“Standard and Challenges for Teacher Education in Scotland”

Looking at the impact of changes to teacher education in Scotland, kicked-off the project partners meeting in Brussels on 29-30 March 2017.

  • "Standard and Challenges for Teacher Education in Scotland", Ellen Doherty (General Teaching Council for Scotland), and Professor Kay Livingston (University of Glasgow) shared their experiences from changing education policy and setting the ‘Curriculum for Excellence', reviewing the implications for teacher education to support and implement the policy in the classroom, creating a new set of Professional Standards.  At its centre, teachers are seen as enquiring professionals who are both committed to on-going self- evaluation and are supported by and engage in mentoring relationships with others. It also emphasises that teachers working and learning together rather than as individuals will have the greatest possible impact.
